SHRM 2024 Recap: Notes from Las Vegas
Posted by NAS Recruitment Innovation on May 2nd, 2024 NAS attended the SHRMTalent Conference in Las Vegas and, although what happens in Vegas usually stays in Vegas, we wanted to share some of the insights we picked up while we were at the conference.
The NAS team included Matt Adam (SVP, Chief Talent Strategist), Paul Hernandez (VP, Business Development) and Brian Hauber (VP, Business Development). This year’s SHRMTalent had record-breaking attendance. “Due to the robust attendance, we were able to have good, meaningful and fruitful conversations with TA professionals from around the country,” said Paul.
According to Matt, the main topic of interest was utilizing artificial intelligence in recruitment. Although AI is definitely a buzzword in the recruitment world and 56% of HR professionals are already using AI in their role today, there still seems to be a lack of clarity on the tangible uses of AI in recruitment strategy. “Based on my conversations, everybody’s still trying to test it out and many are still unsure of the advantages and products on offer,” said Brian. “It’s top of mind, but the market is still maturing,” added Matt.
Some of the sessions we attended focused on ways to stand out as an employer of choice. Discussions and case studies focused on the importance of brand, career site and candidate experience – and how these elements are critical to hiring the right talent. Want to learn more? Brian said that “most of the attendees mentioned how difficult the talent market is, especially in healthcare for nurses. They’re looking for ways to stand out against the competition, including branding, the career site experience, how to go to market and even job descriptions.” Check out our recent e-book on Seven Rules for Writing Job Descriptions that Convert for more insight.
